Longhorns Brown, Gatewood arrested

Texas_4673.jpg AUSTIN TX (UPI) -- University of Texas Longhorns Tarell Brown and Tyrell Gatewood could be forced to sit out of Saturday's game following arrests on drug and weapon charges.

Brown, the third-ranked team's starting cornerback, linebacker Gatewood and former Longhorn Aaron Harris were taken to the Travis County Jail Monday after being pulled over by police. Harris was reportedly driving the car.

All three men were charged with drug offenses related to marijuana, and Brown was also charged with carrying a weapon, a loaded 9mm pistol.

"We are aware of the situation with Tarell (Brown) and Tyrell (Gatewood) and have met with both of them," Texas head coach Mack Brown said in a statement Monday. "We're working closely with the young men and the authorities. At this time, we are holding them out of all team functions as we gather as much information as possible before making a team decision."
