Effort to legalize brothel causes fuss

LONDON (UPI) -- Plans for a massage parlor above a British sweet shop, only yards from a Merseyside school, are drawing fire from the neighborhood.

Opponents say the formal business application is an effort to legalize a brothel, known as the Sophistokats, said to be operating quietly in the same location, The Liverpool Echo reported.

The newspaper revealed the alleged brothel's existence in January, but so far nothing has been done about it, the paper said. Police say they have no criminal complaints against the place.
